The private rented sector is undergoing unprecedented changes, all political parties recognise the need for a thriving private rented sector only differentiated by their preferred approach to regulation of the market.

In September 2014 the ‘Private Rented Sector Code of Practice’ was published at the instigation of the Minister of State for Housing and Planning. The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in association with the leading sector organisations to develop a Code of Practice. All sections of the industry, landlords, agents, property managers, deposit protection providers and ombudsman services have contributed to the Code of Practice aimed at promoting best practice in the sector.

Members of any organisations which have signed up to the Code agree to abide by its contents, giving tenants assurance of a good service, driving up standards in the sector. Cheshire Relocation Limited as a member of the Association of Residential Lettings Agents, the National Association of Estate Agents, The Property Ombudsman and the Deposit Protection Service fully supports the Code and adheres to its model for best practice.

Managed properties are more popular with tenants and void periods between tenancies are generally shorter than landlord managed properties in our experience.
